PRESS RELEASE:
Well, we were going to announce that we had exceeded the 150-tutorial
barrier, but then we found ourselves totally unable to stop! This
is, of course, excellent news for everyone, and a testament to all the hard work
that has been put into this free resource by volunteers over the last 3 years.
Perhaps not surprisingly, we are well on route to surpassing 200 tutorials by
the end of the year too! Phew! Our fingers will be worn out at this rate! :)

EDITOR'S LETTER
|
Dear Readers,

Hello and welcome to the fourth BioRUST newsletter! Wow, has
it been a year already since I started writing these things!?! o^O
I must say, though, that this has been a season of quick growth for BioRUST,
punctuated by the rise of our membership by ~30%!!!! We still aren't
nearly as big as some other online resources, of course, but by maintaining a
steady growth curve and mature management I really think that we have succeeded
in making this the friendliest community around... and virtually free of
flamers / troublemakers too! Yay!
As some of you will have noticed, we have been playing around a lot with our
advertisers over the last few months. Have no fears - we have NO INTENTION
of ever resorting to popovers, popunders, or those bleeding irritating flashing
banners spouting error messages. Our changes, rather, have been more to do
with the company we use to represent us... and I am happy to announce that we
finally seem to have found a winner with TribalFusion! With actual
payouts 3x better than FastClick or Google, the BioRUST service is now
self-supporting and generating a slight profit! I have no intentions,
however, of merely pocketing this cash but, rather, intend to use it to further
improve the community. Whether this will present itself as a better server
with an unlimited 100mbit connection or the introduction of proper prizes for
competitions is unclear... but, as always, I have an open ear and I'm always
interested in suggestions! In the meantime, though, keep enjoying
yourself at Biorust! :)
Man1c M0g, Chief Editor.

PHOTOSHOP HOT TIP
|
|
If you are working with
layers that have soft edges and you are not able to find the edges of your
current layer, don’t give up!! Just go to the main menu and pick
View > Show > Layer Edges. Now you can see a blue border around the
edges of your current layer. Much easier!

We
are currently running a series of competitions designed to go into an
official BioRUST calendar for 2007. Each month features a
different subject, and a different challenge to get your teeth into!
Your theme for this month is 'Entropy', and
the aim is to submit any artwork/photo based around that subject. Sound
interesting? You can find full details in our
official thread.

BioRUST absolutely thrives on user participation! If
you want to write a tutorial for BioRUST, just publish it in the
tutorials forum.
If its good enough, we may even move it to the main pages for you... which get a
LOT of traffic. You retain full credit for your work.
Stuck for ideas? We even offer a
list of subjects for you to get your teeth into... but just make sure
you read the
submission guidelines first.
